WO1 James Russell Walker (VX 39848) R.S.M. 2/15 Field Regiment

Born 4 Feb 1911. Died 24 Dec 1999.

WO1 Walker enlisted into the Army Instructional Corps AIF on 11 Feb 1935. From there he had a number of postings as an Artillery instructor. On the 16 Jun 1939 he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Class Two and on 22 Feb 1941 was taken on strength R.R.D. On the 26 Feb 1941 he was transferred to the 2/15 Field Regiment. On the 27 July 1941 he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Class One and became the Regimental Sergeant Major of the 2/15 Field Regiment. He embarked for Singapore on 8 Aug 1941 and disembarked in Singapore on 23 Aug 1941. On 10 Apr 1942 he was reported missing and on the 21 Apr 1944 was transferred from Malaya to Fukuota Camp. On the 16 Aug 1946 he was discharged from the Army.
